Applicants are required to obtain contributions (including donations) and deposit them with Variety no later than January 15, 2008. Both the registration fee and contributions in excess of the registration fee are not refundable.
Monies donated to Variety the children’s charity are generally tax deductible provided they qualify as unfettered donation: that is, the donor can prove they have received no value in return for the donation. Similarly, an unfettered donation with small acknowledgement on the Splash vessel would normally be deductible. Sponsorship of vessels by companies being generally associated with advertising space on the vessels or promotional activity undertaken by the vessel would normally be deductible and attract a GST component.

There are a number of rules regarding the conduct of entrants in Variety Splash. These rules are there to protect the reputation of the Splash and Variety the children’s charity. This is necessary as the Splash relies on the good will of local authorities and communities to continue raising money for children with special needs around Australia. Any incident that damages the reputation of the Splash harms the children who depend on Variety.
These rules are simple and commonsense. It is up to Participants/Teams to police the conduct of each team member. The below rules are viewed most seriously. Breaches will result in the ejection of the participant/team from the Splash. Also, the participant/team may not be invited to participate in future Variety events.
