The Variety Splash is similar in style to the infamous Bash, where the focus is firmly placed on having fun.
Variety Splash consists of a three day and two night rally on
The following morning Splasher’s will travel across the bay to Royal Geelong Yacht Club where Friday evening will unveil another spectacular function and night to remember.
On the final morning, a lazy breakfast will be enjoyed by all followed by a leisurely approach back to
As with all Variety events, the Splash too has a serious side. Its primary objective is to raise money for children in our community with a wide range of special needs.
“Sailing from Newhaven ( Phillip Island ) and participating in the inaugural Variety Splash 2008 was exhilarating experience for LAAFIN’s Mike, Simon, Kevin and myself as a skipper. After negotiating the heads in very difficult conditions, we were again tested on the first day of the event when mother nature hit us with 35 knot winds and 2.5 meters waves before finally arriving at Mornington Yacht Club (9 p.m.).Fortunately the conditions improved on the second and third day of the event and the crew and I were privileged to meet other likeminded yachties and contribute almost $ 8000 to a most worthwhile charity.”

“We had an awesome time during the Variety Splash and with around 30 boats participating, including three boats from SKMC, we met some great new friends. In three days we all got a taste of everything the Bay can offer weather wise, with storms, 35 knot winds and three metre waves on the Thursday, and sun and a glass like Bay for the next two days. The event's management was sensational, the catering and lunch packs delicious and the welcome we got from the folks at Sandringham, Mornington and Geelong Yacht Clubs, and Waterfront City was warm and friendly. We can't wait for next year's Splash. It's a wonderful opportunity to spend three fun filled days (and nights) cruising with other boaties whilst at the same time raising money for some very special children and the Variety Club.”
