The Variety Splash is similar in style to the infamous Variety Bash, where the focus is firmly placed on having fun. As with all Variety events, the Splash too has a serious side. Its primary objective is to raise money for children in our community with a wide range of special needs.
“I just wanted to write and say thankyou to everyone involved in the Splash 2010. We were very excited to get the phone call from HeartKids inviting us to attend on Thursday. Both my boys (Thomas and HeartKid William) and I had a fantastic day! We found ourselves on Biddy-Hu-II with the most wonderful crew. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and I was extremely impressed with the way Paul got the boys involved in the workings of the yacht.
The whole experience was wonderful. Thanks for all the wonderful work that Variety do in raising funds for children like William and other important community needs. It is such an important thing for so many different people and also for William who will require several major heart surgeries through his life. It is a nice way to get out and forget about those things such as hospital visits and tests. Thanks for a wonderful day Paul, Jodie & crew and also to Variety.”

“We would like to think that the third time we would be lucky weatherwise. But Mother Nature was again playing with 'Team Laafin!' To reach our destination at Docklands for the 2010 Variety Splash we left Newhaven at 3.40am on Saturday and only had three hours of calm weather! This was our third year of participating in the Variety Splash and all members of the team were happy and proud to again be part of this event.
Together as a team, we managed to raise close to $10,000 for Variety, the children's charity. Over the last three years, Team Laafin has donated over $28,000 to Variety. We are coming back in 2011, with the aim to achieve above our record of $10,300. As a very small team, we are extremely proud of our achievement.”
