$100,000 RAISED IN VARIETY SPLASH 2009!

The 2009 Variety Splash has come and gone, and despite the tough situations facing us all, it was an incredible success. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this event a great one.

Stay tuned for Variety Splash 2010 Information!

The Variety Splash is similar in style to the infamous Bash, where the focus is firmly placed on having fun.

Variety Splash consists of a three day and two night rally on Port Phillip Bay and is open to power and sail boats, commencing in Waterfront City Docklands, with the first leg taking Splasher's to Mornington Yacht Club while enjoying entertainment and stopovers throughout the day and finishing with an evening of fine food, entertainment and great company.

The following morning Splasher’s will travel across the bay to Royal Geelong Yacht Club where Friday evening will unveil another spectacular function and night to remember.

On the final morning, a lazy breakfast will be enjoyed by all followed by a leisurely approach back to Waterfront City, Docklands where an amazing finishing line party will take place.

As with all Variety events, the Splash too has a serious side. Its primary objective is to raise money for children in our community with a wide range of special needs.

Monies raised goes towards Sunshine Coaches (minibuses) for children’s organisations, Liberty Wheelchair Swings for council playgrounds, specialist communication devices such as Dynavox machines and mobility equipment like wheelchairs and Second Skin Splints.By taking part in this wonderful event, not only will you have the time of your life but you will be instrumental in helping bring sunshine into the lives of many very special children.

Testimonials

“For the second time the yacht Laafin and it's crew: Kevin Holt, Simon Pollard, Jim McWilliams and myself were part of the Variety Splash.

This year's event was great! Organisation was spot on, and interaction and friendship between crews was also great.

As the smallest boat of the 24 entrants, Laafin again had to sail all the way from Phillip Island to Docklands. This time the weather was more kind to us! Going through the Port Phillip Heads didn't cause too much of a problem. On the first day from Docklands to Mornington we had a very pleasant time sailing, reaching Mornington by 4.30pm which was much earlier than last year. On the next day's trip to Geelong, the wind picked up and we sailed to Geelong in a similar time to the day before, without a problem. Going back to Docklands on the third day, the sea was rougher and waves up to 2 meters but the sailing part was again great.

Entertainment in every port including final party at Docklands was excellent.

On a more serious note we were very happy and pleased with our total contribution of near $10,000 for Variety The Children's Charity. With generous donations from our sponsors we were pleased that we made it this year and now its time to start thinking about the 2010 Splash - Laafin will be there again.”

“I just wanted to say thanks for the 09 Splash.
The fun spirit of the people involved from the volunteers, sponsors, boat owners, crew and guests was evident throughout the entire event.
I don't know why, but when this particular group gets together a three day fundraising event feels like a three week holiday!
For the second year in a row the organization of the event has been incredibly professional with obvious attention to detail. The special events within the main event such as the trivia quizzes, figure head competition, celebrity mini yacht regatta and raft ups were all well run and immensely enjoyed by all.
The food was great, particularly the seafood feast at Mornington & the dinner at Geelong which was only topped by the entertainment on the last two nights. My dancing shoes are worn out! Once again thank you for a great three days, wild horses will not keep me away from next year's Splash it is well and truly marked off on my calendar.”
